The 1st Iternationalisation Congress - Higher Education is coming soon to Gdańsk!

The 1st Internationalization Congress, organized by the Medical University of Gdańsk, IROs Forum and National Agency for Academic Exchange, will take place on May 13-14, 2024 in Gdańsk.
The event, that is organized under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science, is initiating a broad debate with the academic and scientific community on how to wisely steer the internationalization of education at Polish universities. During the Congress, we aim to address many aspects of university functioning, recognizing that internationalization encompasses all spheres of its activities. We believe that a multi-voice discussion is needed to accurately describe the problems and find real solutions. We want to hear the voices of both decision-makers at Polish universities and those involved in internationalization processes, educating foreign students, and daily interaction with foreign university partners.
The programme of the event includes an inter-ministerial debate between the Vice Ministers of Science, Foreign Affairs, and Interior and Administration, with Prof. Andrzej Szeptycki, Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, Ph.D. and Prof. Maciej Duszczyk. The opening lecture will be given by Laura E. Rumbley, Ph.D. Director of Development, Knowledge and Research at the European Association for International Education (EAIE).
Several experts from across Europe have been invited to take part in the discussion and will share their experience in developing and implementing national internationalization strategies, including representatives from agencies responsible for the development of science and higher education in Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, and Slovakia. Participants in the debate will discuss recommendations for Poland, which, under the auspices of NAWA, has been working on a national strategy for the internationalization of science and higher education since January this year.
We hope that the 1st Internationalization Congress will be an opportunity to discuss international trends and best practices operating abroad and will allow us to collectively formulate conclusions and set the direction for creating a national strategy for the internationalization of higher education and research.
