Aside from fulfilling its teaching and research roles, the Medical University of Gdańsk is the founding body of four health care institutions, including two clinical hospitals: the University Clinical Centre (UCC) and the University Maritime and Tropical Medicine Centre (UMTMC). Both are highly specialised facilities with highest referantiality grade, i.e. offering the highest healthcare level.
