The Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and University of Gdańsk, the Fahrenheit Universities’ member institutions, have received funding to create a regional network of cooperation between scientific and higher education institutions and other organisations working for the benefit of foreigners in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The aim of the NAWA-EURAXESS Network programme is to build regional partnerships in all voivodeships involving scientific institutions, higher education institutions and other organisations working for the benefit of foreigners.
These partnerships aim to support the creation of a friendly environment for doctoral students, researchers and their families coming to Poland. Cooperation with provincial offices on legalisation procedures for foreign researchers and their relatives is also a key element.
– Funding for the “MOSAIC” project is tangible proof that the existing synergy between Pomerania’s three leading universities – the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk – has been appreciated by the project evaluators and translates into real benefits not only for the region’s academic community, but also for other provinces in Poland with which cooperation is planned. Joint activities serve to build an integrated system of support for scientists – foreigners, based on the exchange of experience, resources and talents – says Prof. Anna Żaczek, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation at the MUG.
For the implementation of the project MOSAIC – Mobility, Academic Synergy and Initiative –Development of the Potential of the Fahrenheit Universities in Gdańsk under the EURAXESS initiative, the universities received funding of a maximum amount of PLN 749,559.80.
MOSAIC aims to create an innovative and comprehensive platform to support researchers’ mobility and career development based on European standards set out in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The project will be implemented by the Fahrenheit Universities, which brings together three leading academic institutions in Gdansk: the Medical University of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk.
An important advantage of the project is that all three universities affiliated in the Fahrenheit Universities hold the HR Excellence in Research distinction awarded by the European Commission. As part of the project, these institutions will implement the highest standards of transparency in recruitment, stable employment conditions and high quality administrative support for researchers.
The MOSAIC project will be implemented in accordance with horizontal policies ensuring equal opportunities and non-discrimination, promoting cultural diversity, sustainability and social responsibility. Activities will also include the implementation of pro-environmental solutions and support for the integration of foreign researchers and their families into the academic environment of the Pomeranian region.
The effect of the project will be the creation of a regional NAWA-EURAXESS network point, which will strengthen the international competitiveness of Gdansk and Pomerania, attract world-class scientists and increase the internationalisation of the local scientific community.
The NAWA-EURAXESS Network programme is financed by the European Union from the European Fund for Social Development 2021-2027 (FERS) under the project entitled: Support for higher education institutions and science in serving foreigners and Poles going abroad, No. FERS.01.05.IP.08-0003/24.
