Eng. Krystian Brzozowski, a member of the research team led by Maciej Bobowicz, M.D., Ph.D. at the 2nd Division of Radiology, Medical University of Gdańsk, and a student at the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology, has been awarded the prestigious RADIUM grant for 2025.
Krystian Brzozowski’s, Eng. research project, entitled Federated Machine Learning in Medical Diagnostics – Analysis of Model Aggregation Strategies, Data Heterogeneity, and Advanced Patient Data Protection Methods, was recognised for its innovative approach and significant potential in advancing modern medical technologies.
His research integrates cutting-edge technologies in radiology, oncology, and advanced machine learning algorithms, aligning with the priority research areas of both the Medical University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology, as well as their respective Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programmes.
The grant, valued at up to PLN 24,000 gross, will enable the exploration of federated machine learning with a focus on patient data protection and the optimisation of heterogeneous models.
The RADIUM grant is part of the Individual Research Studies (ISB) programme, which supports the most talented second-cycle students in pursuing their unique academic and research paths.
