Representatives of the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Student Scientific Circle at the CIRSE Congress in Lisbon

Representatives of the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Student Scientific Circle at the Medical University of Gdańsk participated in the international CIRSE congress in Lisbon. English Division medical students – Julia Ogrodowicz, Harshita Kaushik and Marcin Wczysla – were among the university’s representatives were.

The event, held in September, provided an opportunity to deepen knowledge in interventional radiology and present scientific papers titled Arteriovenous Malformation or Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (by Marcin Wczysla) and Integrated Treatment of Synchronous Ischemic Stroke and Myocardial Infarction (by Harshita Kaushik). Both projects were conducted under the guidance of Bartosz Regent, M.D., Ph.D. from the Department of Radiology at the University Clinical Centre. The team took 1st place in the student quiz on the interventional radiology knowledge.

Thanks to his involvement in CIRSE, Marcin Wczysla was appointed a student ambassador and received the opportunity to complete a three-week internship in interventional radiology at Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge in Stockholm. During this internship, he assisted in procedures such as TACE, embolization, TIPS, stenting, PTA, ablations, PTC, and thrombectomies, and independently performed simpler procedures, such as nephrostomies and urostomies.
