Scientists from the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical University of Gdańsk participated in the 30th edition of the European Emergency Medicine Congress – one of the largest scientific events dedicated to emergency medicine, held in Copenhagen from 12th to 16th October 2024.
The Polish team, led by Prof. Mariusz Siemiński and including Klaudia Krzyżaniak, M.D. and Robert Krion, M.D., Ph.D. presented the research achievements of their department.
Klaudia Krzyżaniak, M.D. delivered a presentation entitled Unraveling Sepsis-Associated Encephalopathy: A Retrospective Dive into Emergency Department Admissions (co-authored by Anna Wściślak, Sonia Zembrzuska, Natalia Szczygieł, Aleksandra Szymczyk, M.D., Aleksandra Abramczyk-Suszek, M.D., Robert Krion, M.D. Ph.D., and Prof. Mariusz Siemiński). This presentation addressed sepsis-associated encephalopathy, a common complication observed in emergency departments.
Robert Krion, M.D., Ph.D. presented two studies. The first, Incidence and Impact of Workplace Violence on Healthcare Personnel in Polish Emergency Departments (co-authored by Aleksandra Szymczyk, physician Andrzej Lubiewski, Natalia Glaner, and Prof. Mariusz Siemiński), examined the effects of workplace violence on healthcare staff in Polish emergency departments. The second study, titled Impact of AI-Assisted Diagnostic Information on Medical Decision-Making in Emergency Medicine (co-authored by Aleksandra Szymczyk, M.D., Klaudia Krzyżaniak, M.D., Anna Wściślak, and Prof. Mariusz Siemiński), explored how artificial intelligence can assist doctors in their daily work.
All studies received significant interest and were positively received by conference participants from around the world.
