OptimaMind. MUG as an international project leader

Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) is coordinating a consortium implementing the OptimaMind project entitled Enhancing Cognitive Longevity through Lifestyle and Nutrition. The project, coordinated by Joanna Reczkowicz from the Department of Bioenergetics and Exercise Physiology, was selected for funding in the NutriBrain competition Modulation of Brain Ageing through Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle, organised by the Era4Health Partnership and co-financed by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme.


The consortium consists of partners from Poland, Italy, Austria, and Estonia, collaborating with the British organisation Food For The Brain. MUG represented by is Prof. Jędrzej Antosiewicz from the Department of Bioenergetics and Exercise Physiology, who serves as the Principal Investigator and leader of the international team of scientists. Other members include: Konrad Kowalski, Ph.D. – Masdiag Laboratory, Warsaw, Poland, Prof. Tiziana Bacchetti – Università Politecnica delle Marche, Italy – partner, Prof. Harald Sourij – Interdisciplinary Metabolic Medicine Trials Unit, Division of Endocrinology and Diabetology, Medical University of Graz, Austria – partner, Prof. Tõnis Timmusk – Tallinn University of Technology, School of Science, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, Estonia – partner, Patrick Holford – Food For The Brain Foundation, UK – cooperating institution.


The OptimaMind project explores non-pharmacological approaches, such as Time-Restricted Eating (TRE), to support brain health and prevent age-related cognitive decline. Its goal is to develop practical recommendations which will influence health policies and clinical practices over the next 3-5 years. This is the first project funded by the Era4Health.
