Proceedings of the International Advisory Council

The Medical University of Gdańsk hosted the deliberations of the International Advisory Council on 10 October 2024. The discussions were attended by members of the Council: the President, Prof. Dame Anna Dominiczak, Prof. Andrea Gallamini, Prof. Christoph C. Zielinski and Prof. Giuseppe Mancia, representatives of the MUG: the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Michał Żmijewski, the Head of the Office of the Excellence Initiative – Research University Programme, Prof. Tomasz Bączek, as well as the leaders of the Priority Research Areas – Prof. Jacek Jassem, Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz, Prof. R. Tomasz Smoleński, and the IDUB Office Team: Olga Hofman, Marta Hnat, Patrycja Maszka-Stankiewicz and Katarzyna Sochacka.

During the meeting, strategic activities in the implementation of the IDUB Programme were presented, also in the area of Priority Research Areas, with emphasis on the presentation of the practical implementation of the recommendations of international experts, who, following the mid-term evaluation of the Programme, made specific recommendations for further action on the part of the University towards the implementation of the objectives set within IDUB.

The event also included organising a poster session with young scientists presenting their recent research activities in Priority Research Areas. This session was attended by Dr. Habil. Barbara Kutryb-Zając, Dr. Habil. Anna Supernat, Bartłomiej Tomasik, Ph.D., and Dr. Habil. Anna Shalimova, Assoc. Prof., Ewa Pawlowska, M.D., and doctoral students Patryk Mucha and Maksym Jopek.

The International Advisory Council comprises recognised and experienced experts from foreign medical universities and industry entities. Its purpose is to provide an impartial assessment of the activities carried out within the IDUB Program, as well as to issue recommendations and suggestions and to share best global practices, designed to lead to the development not only of the running of the IDUB Program but also of the University as a whole.
