Representatives of the Biomedical Research Institute from the University of Valencia Inma Blasco and Ignacio Castaño López visited the Clinical Research Support Centre Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit on 26th September 2024. The visit of the coordinating nurse and the Data Management coordinator took place at the invitation of Prof. Rafał Dziadziuszko, medical coordinator of the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit.
The visit of the guests from Spain was an opportunity for practical exchange of experience. Inma Blasco and Ignacio Castaño López were shown around the Unit by Zofia Specht-Szwoch, M.D., Ph.D. and participated in the daily work of the EPhCTU. They discussed with the Unit’s nurses about the role and responsibilities of a research nurse and the differences in the work of a nurse at the Gdańsk and Valencia centres; the teams also shared important observations and experiences from their daily work. During the meeting, they also discussed ways to verify data compliance and the process of populating electronic databases. The laboratory coordinators gave the Guests from Spain a tour of the UCC Central Clinical Laboratory.
The foreign researchers also met with the entire team of the Unit during a weekly patient safety meeting. The visit of the guests from Spain is particularly important for the development of the Unit, as it gives rise to a practical exchange of experience and enables joint solutions to everyday organisational problems in the process of evaluating the safety and efficacy of new medicines.
