Researchers from the Medical University of Gdańsk were once again included in the prestigious group of the top 2% of scientists in the world, distinguishing them not only for their high citation rate in the 2023/2024 period (single year category), but also in the context of their overall publication activity to date (career category). The most influential from our, whose publications are most frequently cited by other authors, in the context of their overall publication activity to date (cat. career) were recognised:

A graduate of our University, Dr. Habil. Krzysztof Mrózek, employed at the Ohio State University, was also included in the list.
Also included in the TOP 2% list are scientists who are part of the International Advisory Board operating at the MUG under the Excellence Initiative – Research University program. Among the world’s top scientists were the Council’s chairwoman Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, deputy director and head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences of the University of Glasgow, a 1978 graduate of our University, awarded the honorary title of Ambassador of the MUG, as well as: Prof. Andrea Gallaminiz of the Department of Research, Medical Innovation and Statistics at the Oncology Center A. Lacassagne in France, Prof. Christoph C. Zielinski – Director of the Clinical Oncology Department, Chairman of the First Faculty of Medicine and the Oncology Center of the Medical University of Vienna in Austria, Prof. Reinhold Kreutz – Director of the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Charité of the Medical University of Berlin in Germany, Prof. Giuseppe Mancia – Professor emeritus at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Milan-Bicocca in Italy, and Professor Sir Magdi H. Yacoub of the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College in London, founder and director of research at the Harefield Heart Science Centre (Magdi Yacoub Institute) in London, England.
The list also included researchers from the Technical University of Gdańsk and and the Universisty of Gdańsk, the universities that form the Fahrenheit Universities together with the Medical University of Gdansk.
The compilation was prepared by Stanford University in cooperation with Elsevier Publishing and SciTech Strategies. The TOP 2% list evaluates the entire scientific output of individual researchers according to a bibliometric index that takes into account criteria such as the Hirsch index, the number of independent citations, and the position and role of a given researcher in the list of authors of publications.
