Launched in the 2023/2024 academic year, the new course – clinical research – has been recognised not only by students. The Foundation for the Development of Education and Higher Education (Fundacja Rozwoju Edukacji i Szkolnictwa Wyższego) distinguished it with the accreditation “Studies with a Future” („Studia z Przyszłością”), which is awarded to the most innovative and valuable faculties and study programmes at Polish universities, adapted to the needs of the labour market, as well as characterised by modern teaching solutions. The final gala of the nationwide Competition and Programme for the Accreditation of Study Fields “Studies with a Future” took place on 4 March this year in Wrocław, and the certificate for the awarded course of study at the MUG was received by Prof. Edyta Szurowska, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs and co-author of the curriculum for the clinical studies course. The ceremony was also attended by Joanna Bidzińska, Eng.D. from the 2nd Division of Radiology, and Marta Bednarek, Ph.D. from the Department of Non-Commercial Clinical Research. The organisers of the ceremony also honoured the clinical research faculty with an extraordinary certificate of “Leader in Educational Quality” („Lidera jakości kształcenia”).

– Clinical research is one of the key areas in the development of modern medicine. The educational programme we have created fits perfectly with the current needs and expectations not only of our future students but also of potential employers said Prof. Edyta Szurowska, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs and co-author of the curriculum for the clinical research faculty. – I would like to thank all the scientists involved in developing the programme and launching such an innovative course. The unequivocally positive feedback from its participants is the best confirmation for us of the rightness of the decision and motivation for further work on improving the didactic offer of the MUG.
As the organisers emphasise, the ‘Studies with a Future’ certificate is awarded to those faculties and specialisations whose programmes are based on three pillars: striving to provide up-to-date, modern knowledge, creating skills and social competences sought by employers, and investing in the highest quality of education.
– Despite the short promotion time of the new faculty, which was added to the offer of GUMed in May 2023, the number of applications in the basic recruitment was significant, and all available places went to those interested – added Dr. Habil. Sławomir Wójcik, Head of the University Admissions Office of the MUG. – I am glad that the idea for the faculty co-authored by Prof. Edyta Szurowska, and the work put into launching and running it, has found such recognition. This is the third course offered by GUMed to be awarded the “Studia z Przyszłości” (Studies with a Future) certificate, which confirms that we try to keep up with current needs and prepare our graduates to successfully find their place in the labour market.
Recruitment for the new academic year will start in May 2024. Detailed information on the course and recruitment conditions can be found at https://rekrutacja.gumed.edu.pl/74742.html.
