The Chairman of the Medical and Health Sciences Team of the RDN has been elected

Professor Wiesław Sawicki, Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Chairman of the Scientific Council of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the MUG was entrusted with further responsible functions. As a result of the elections organized on 9th of January 2024, he became the Chairman of the Medical and Health Sciences Team of the Council for Scientific Excellence (Rada Doskonałości Naukowej, RDN) in the 2024-2027 term. This RDN Team includes three representatives of five scientific disciplines: pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences, health sciences, physical culture sciences and medical biology sciences.

The Council for Scientific Excellence is the central government administration body working to ensure the development of scientific staff. The main tasks of the RDN include: cooperation in the proceedings for the award of the degree of habilitated doctor with entities granting habilitation, appointing entities granting doctorates and habilitations to conduct proceedings for scientific promotion in statutorily specified cases, as well as conducting proceedings for awarding the title of professor. In addition, the Council of National Remembrance acts as a second-instance body in proceedings for the award of doctoral degrees and habilitated doctor degrees, and supervises entities granting doctorates and habilitation degrees.
