The Medical University of Gdańsk became a member of the European University Association (EUA) on 27 October 2023 – an association of universities from all over Europe, aiming to exchange knowledge and good practices in the organisation of university work and teaching and research activities. Along with MUG, 10 other academic centres from Germany, Ireland, Poland, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Slovakia have been officially admitted to the EUA.
The European University Association currently brings together more than 850 higher education-related institutions from 49 countries, including, in addition to several universities, national rectors’ conferences. Poland is represented in the association’s structures by 38 HEIs and the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland. Through membership in the EUA, they can cooperate more closely, e.g. through staff exchanges and the organisation of various events devoted to teaching, scientific, and research work, as well as issues related to the functioning and structure of academic centres.
– It is important that we participate fully in the European circulation of ideas and thoughts that shape universities and academia. From now on we will have access to a network of diverse universities in Europe, which should support us in forming partnerships and contribute to the strategic development of the University. Thanks to the EUA, we also have a chance to increase our international visibility and have access to unique data and analyses to support decision-making at the University – said Professor Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science of the MUG.
Detailed information about the activities of the European University Association and its newly admitted members is available on its website.
The process of MUG becoming a member of the association was initiated by Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science of the MUG, and coordinated by the Internationalization Office of the University, headed by Ewa Kiszka.
