As part of a study visit by foreign experts from Afyonkarahisar University in Turkey, two open lectures have been organised at the Department of Forensic Medicine of the Medical University of Gdańsk. The lectures will be given by Mahmut Şerif Yıldırım, Ph.D. and Uğur Kayhan, Ph.D. on July 25 and 26. No advance registration is required for the events. Both lectures will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the lecture hall of the Prof. Stefan Raszei Department of Forensic Medicine (at 23 Dębowa Street).
Dr Mahmut Şerif Yıldırım was born in 1988 in Ankara, Turkey. He completed his undergraduate education at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 2012 and received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Between 2013-2018, he completed his Forensic Medicine Residency Training at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine with the thesis titled “Evaluation of liver attenuation changes in terms of postmortem interval estimation” and received his Forensic Medicine Specialist degree. Between 2016 and 2022, he completed the Forensic Biology Doctorate Program at Ankara University Forensic Sciences Institute with the thesis titled “Detection of blood and semen stains formed on the fabric with FTIR after washing with different cleaning agents” and received his PhD degree. He worked as a Forensic Medicine Specialist at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 2018 and 2019. Since 2019, he has been working as a lecturer at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine. His areas of interest include Forensic Biology, postmortem interval and forensic spectroscopic examinations.
Dr Uğur Kayhan was born in 1984 in Konya. He completed his undergraduate education at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2009 and received the degree of Medical Doctor. He worked as a medical practitioner in Aksaray State Hospital Emergency Service between 2009-2010. Between 2010-2014, he completed his Forensic Medicine residency training at the “Council of Forensic Medicine”. The subject of his residency thesis was “Disability Evaluation of Non-Traumatic Neurological Diseases and Comparison with AMA Guide”. Between 2014-2018, he worked as forensic medicine specialist and head of department in Karaman Forensic Medicine Department of Council of Forensic Medicine. Since 2018, he has been working as an Assistant Professor at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine. His areas of interest can be listed as Forensic Autopsy, Medical Malpractice and Technology and Forensic Medicine. In private life, he is also interested in fountain pen and ink hobby.
