Prof. Waldemar Priebe – open lecture

The Faculty of Pharmacy of the MUG is organising an open lecture to be given by Prof. Waldemar Priebe from the Department of Experimental Therapeutics, Division of Cancer Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA. The lecture, entitled Drug discovery in academia: from bench to bedside, will be held on 12 July 2023 at 12:00 in a hybrid format: online and in the Auditorium Primum, Prof. Olgierd Narkiewicz Memorial Hall at Atheneum Gedanense Novum GUMed .

Prof. Waldemar Priebe

Professor Waldemar Priebe is an employee of the Department of Experimental Therapeutics, Division of Cancer Medicine, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA. The Professor’s research interests include the search for new anticancer drugs with unique mechanisms of action. He is the author of more than 200 publications and numerous patents, and has developed five drugs that are in various phases of clinical trials and four that are currently in preclinical studies. He is also the co-founder of six biotechnology companies in the US and is the founder, major shareholder, and Chairman of the Scientific Council of Moleculin Biotech. Inc. A scientist of Polish descent, he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2012 in recognition of his contributions to Polish-American scientific cooperation. Since 2015, he has been a member of the National Development Council to the President of the Republic of Poland.
