Organised by the scientific circles of FarU member universities, the What’s Next? conference was held on 23-24 of May 2023 at the European Solidarity Centre. On behalf of the Medical University of Gdańsk, the event was co-organised by the SKN Psychology, which, together with the SKN Inspiar UG and the Scientific Circle of Sound and Image Engineering PG, was among the winners of this year’s Fahrenheit Collaboration Masters competition.
The meeting consisted of lectures, debates, practical workshops, discussions, and a film screening. During them, several invited experts discussed issues related to the three main pillars of Gdansk’s universities – medical, humanities, and technical faculties. Topics at the event included climate change, technological and healthcare challenges, and interpersonal relationships.
– We held 3 lectures, 7-panel discussions, 4 workshops, and a film screening. A total of 31 speakers from the Tricity, Warsaw, and Krakow spoke at the event – said conference coordinator Julia Terech from the Psychology Student Association (SKN Psychologii GUMed). – During the conference, we managed to show how important interpersonal solidarity and – above all – open dialogue is in finding solutions to the problems we face.
The event was officially opened by the Rector, Prof. Marcin Gruchała, and Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science. Several MUG specialists were invited to take part in the expert debate, including Krzysztof Sobczak, Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology of Medicine and Social Pathology, Milena Lachowicz, Ph.D. from the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy, Joanna Śliwińska, Ph.D. spokesperson, Wojciech Nazar, Ph.D. a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine, and Doct. Magdalena Antoszewska, a doctoral student at the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Medical University of Gdańsk.
