Medical students of the MUG: Anna Bocheńska, Michał Gomulec, Andrzej Bilyk, and Wiktoria Michnowska (4th year) and Ewa Szplit (3rd year) were elected to the General Board and the National Team of the IFMSA-Poland International Medical Students’ Association for the term 2023-2024.
Michał Gomulec has been elected Secretary General of IFMSA-Poland – his tasks will include maintaining the Association’s records, providing ongoing assistance to branch secretaries, liaising with authorities, the National Court Register, overseeing the introduction of changes to official documents and coordinating the creation of Official Positions, which address current topics in the broader health care field.
Ewa Szplit will assume the position of National Coordinator for Reproductive Health and Rights, including HIV and AIDS, a programme that aims to work on reproductive health and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. She will focus on overseeing the work of the programme’s national team, assisting local coordinators and, in addition, working with the Association’s treasurer and secretary and, internationally, the IFMSA SCORA Director.
Andrzej Bilyk has been selected as the national coordinator for outgoing students’ clinical placements – his responsibilities will include mentoring and supervising the work of local coordinators, carrying out the qualification for clinical placements, as well as working directly with the secretary and treasurer of the Association at the national level, as well as with the IFMSA SCOPE Director and national coordinators of other countries at the international level.
Wiktoria Michnowska, as national coordinator for outgoing student scientific exchange, will focus on liaising with local coordinators and assisting in the day-to-day affairs of the National Team dealing with scientific exchange. In addition, her responsibilities will include working directly with the secretary and treasurer of the Association at the national level, as well as with the IFMSA SCORE Director at the international level.
The election was organised during the 50th Jubilee Assembly of Delegates of IFMSA-Poland, which took place on 15-16 April this year in Bydgoszcz. During the event, students participated in a gala and listened to speeches on the history of the Association, its activities in the past, as well as the initiatives undertaken and implemented by its members and partners at the time.
It is worth recalling that in the previous term, three students of our University’s medical faculty were present on the IFMSA-Poland General Board: Karolina Biernacka, Michał Błaszczyk, and Krzysztof Klimiuk.
IFMSA-Poland is an organisation of over 2,000 medical students from all over Poland. Never before in its history have students from the Medical University of Gdańsk made up such a large proportion of the Association’s Executive Board.
