Medical University of Gdańsk has again been named as one of the world’s top universities, according to the latest edition of the world’s most-consulted university ranking and one of the four biggest international academic rankings – QS World University Rankings. Our University has been ranked 551-600 in the Medicine category in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 as 3rd among domestic scientific institutions. Harvard University was ranked 1st in terms of world institutions in this category, whereas Jagiellonian University – Collegium Medicum took the lead in Poland.

The ranking stands as an objective confirmation of the MUG’s growing international recognition in terms of scientific activity. This is the result of the synergistic endeavours undertaken by our researchers, as well as significantly increased expenditure on both development and research activities, possible thanks to the research university status – says Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science. – I would like to thank all members of the MUG community for their commitment and work, and congratulate on this achievement. Without a doubt, this is our joint success.

The University earned its highest scores for the Citations per Paper and H-Index indicators, thereby, confirming its place among renowned academic centres, where leading publication are being created and frequently cited in prestigious journals. The MUG’s score in the ranking is in itself a part of the consistently implemented ranking policy, a crucial part of the MUG Strategy 2019-2025.
