Michał Bohdan, Ph.D. from the 1st Department of Cardiology of the MUG was elected as the Young Ambassador of Heart Failure Association, European Society of Cardiology. The competition procedure included i.a. analysis of scientific achievements and previous clinical activities in the field of heart failure. The duties of the HFA Ambassador include: creating an integrated community of young cardiologists and representatives of other medical professions involved in the care of patients with heart failure in Poland, promoting active participation in the work of the Heart Failure Association of the Polish Cardiac Society (Polskie Towarzystwo Kardiologiczne, PTK) and disseminating knowledge about heart failure among young cardiologists. The mandate was granted for 2023-2024.
Main clinical and research interests of Michał Bohdan, Ph.D. include the diagnosis and treatment of advanced heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. In 2017, the scientist defended his doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Marcin Gruchała entitled Evaluation of the effect of trimetazidine on exercise capacity in patients with chronic heart failure (Ocena wpływu stosowania trimetazydyny na wydolność fizyczną u pacjentów z przewlekłą niewydolnością serca). After completing postgraduate studies in the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure in London/Brussels in 2018-2019, Michał Bohdan, Ph.D. continued his education in the field of conducting research in the field of heart failure as part of a scholarship at Charite Universitätsmedizin in Berlin in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Anker. In 2021, Michał Bohdan, Ph.D. obtained the European title of specialist in cardiology, and in 2022 – the title of specialist in heart failure of the European Society of Cardiology.
1st Department of Cardiology of the MUG, headed by the Univeristy’s Rector Prof. Marcin Gruchała, for many years has been one of the leading centres in Poland and Central Europe dealing with comprehensive diagnostics and therapy of patients with heart failure and after heart transplantation.
