Scientists of the Medical University of Gdańsk have once again found themselves among the most influential people in Polish medicine. A high 2nd place on the List of 100 was taken by Prof. Jacek Jassem from the Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy, President of the Board of the Polish Cancer League, Chairman of the Central and East European Oncology Group, while on the 9th place was promoted Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec, Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Diabetology and Endocrinology, member of the Board of the Polish Diabetology Society and the Polish Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology. The plebiscite is organized by the editors of Puls Medycyny.
The group of the most influential people in Polish medicine also included: on 13th position Prof. Bartosz Karaszewski, Head of the Department of Neurology, Head of the MUG’s Center for Brain Diseases, MUG’s Brain Diseases Center, President-Elect of the Section of Brain Vascular Diseases of the Polish Neurological Society, and on 22nd position Prof. Marcin Gruchała, Rector of our University, Head of the 1st Department of Cardiology of the MUG, President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities in the 2020-2024 term. Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz, Head of the Department of Hypertension & Diabetology, was ranked 50th. The list also includes Prof. Jarosław Sławek, Head of the Division of Neurological and Psychiatric Nursing, who was ranked 71st. Slightly lower, on position 76th, was Dr. Habil. Elżbieta Senkus-Konefka, Assoc. Prof. from the Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy, from 2020 to 2022 Coordinator of the UCC’s Center for Breast Diseases in Gdańsk.
In the Health Care System category, the only representative of the MUG is in the 45th position Prof. Piotr Czauderna, Head of the Department of Surgery and Urology for Children and Adolescents of the MUG, President of the Pediatric Surgery Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists, Chairman of the Council for Health Protection operating within the National Development Council.
