The S-DISCO Orientation Days at the Medical University of Gdańsk

As part of the International Master in Sustainable Drug Discovery studies carried out in cooperation between the Medical University of Gdańsk, Ghent University, University of Lille and University of Groningen, the first group of students will spend the summer semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at the MUG. To enable them to get to know our University, Open Days will be organized from 15th to 17th of February 2023 at the MUG’s Main campus and Pharmacy campus.

During the course, they will listen to lectures on, among others: the functioning of our University, MUG’s Main Library, dormitories, the rules of moving around Gdańsk or places and institutions where they can get help. The students will also be able to meet the University’s Authorities, attend Polish language classes and take part in the integration lunch.

The International Master S-DISCO is a 2-year study programme in English: semesters 1-2-3 consist of face-to-face and online learning and semester 4 is dedicated to a master thesis. First semester at Ghent University will introduce the students to the broad perspectives and basics of sustainable drug discovery. Programme continues with the second semester when students move together to the Medical University of Gdańsk, where more in-depth courses on e.g. molecular modelling, omics, and green analytics are given. Third semester takes place at the University of Lille or the University of Groningen. Different stages in the drug discovery process up to drug development are discussed, i.e. screening, target identification and validation, hit-to-lead, preclinical studies up to first-in-human trials. Final semester is dedicated to the execution and writing of the master thesis.
