International meeting of NAWA project partners

The first meeting of the partners of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) project entitled Improving education in public health in response to the pandemic and post-pandemic challenges took place from 26th to 27th of January 2023 at the MUG. The event was opened by the Deputy Dean for Quality of Education and Students Training of the Faculty of Health Sciences Dr. Habil. Magdalena Błażek, Assoc. Prof. Experts presented the experience of their centres in teaching of public health in terms of pandemic challenges. In groups, they also discussed the outline of curricula in the areas of crisis management, digital health, leadership, teaching scientific methods, and climate change. Over the next months, the working groups will develop teaching materials that they will use together. The guests also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the MUG’s didactic offer and visit the teaching rooms and the Main Library of our University.

Representatives of Maastricht University (Netherlands), EHESP School of Public Health (France), Institute of Public Health, University of Porto (Portugal) and the Institute of Public Health of the Jagiellonian University came to Gdańsk. In addition, representatives of the University College Cork (Ireland), the Wroclaw Medical University, Poznan University of Medical Sciences and the Medical University of Silesia. The MUG also hosted members of the board of The Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) – Prof. Mary Codd from the University College Cork, Polychronis Kostoulas from the University of Thessaly and APSHER Office Director Robert Otok.

The two-year project is financed by NAWA and includes cooperation with foreign partners on didactic content, academic exchange and the organization of seminars on the best didactic practices.
