For the first time, an employee of the Main Library of the Medical University of Gdańsk has been elected to the council of the European Association for Health Information & Libraries (EAHIL). In the 2023-2026 term, its member, as the only specialist from Poland, will be Jakub Rusakow, Ph.D., Head of the Scientific Information and Promotion Branch of the Main Library of the MUG and a member of the Open Science Team existing at the Library.
EAHIL (European Association for Health Information and Libraries) is a non-governmental organization that brings together librarians and information specialists working in medical and health sciences libraries across Europe. The initiative for its establishment was born at the First European Conference of Medical Libraries, held in Brussels in 1986, and already on August 18, 1987, in Brighton (UK), representatives of 13 European countries signed its charter.
The institution supports the professional development of its members. Its main goal is to improve cooperation between European medical libraries and exchange experiences between their representatives, among others, at workshops or conferences held annually, as well as through social media.
