Another potable water dispensers at the MUG

8.11.2022

Six new water dispensers will be soon set up at the Medical University of Gdańsk. Thereby, the University will now have a total of 16 units with clean, high-quality Gdańsk water. The authorities of the Medical University of Gdańsk thus continue to encourage both students and employees to drink the city’s tap water which is as good as its bottle equivalent and much cheaper. The water dispensers will be set up at the University as part of the cooperation with the Saur Neptun Gdańsk company, has been setting up similar devices in the Gdańsk educational institutions since 2013.

Whenever we discuss the benefits of drinking tap water we always emphasize the ecological aspect. By limiting the purchase of bottled water, we reduce the amount of plastic released into the environment and disposed of at landfills – explains Jacek Kieloch, President of SNG.

Water supplied to the dispensers fully conforms to the strict EU directive on the quality of water intended for human consumption. It is also tested by the Gdańsk waterworks company at every stage of production and distribution.

The devices delivered to the Medical University of Gdańsk are equipped with a water outflow activating sensor. They also a have a built-in bottle counter for 1L bottles which – as a result of drinking tap water – will not end up polluting the environment. We are talking about hundreds or even thousands of bottles a year – emphasizes Magdalena Rusakiewicz, SNG’s Spokesperson.

The dispensers were installed after comprehensive water tests inside each building had been carried out. The costs of both the purchase and installation of the devices, as well as of water tests are covered by Saur Neptun Gdańsk.

Installing the water dispensers is an excellent example of a pro-environmental action. Reducing the plastics’ consumption is indeed of great importance to the community of the Medical University of Gdańsk. The dispensers fit perfectly into the scope of the “MUG without plastic” initiative – explains Katarzyna Grzejszczak, Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Development. – We are happy to continue our cooperation with Saur Neptun Gdańsk.
