The final of this year’s competition for master’s theses made at the Medical University of Gdańsk in the field of medical analysis took place on October 24, 2022, in the online form. The participants and the audience were greeted by the Vice-Rector for Science – Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for the Quality of Teaching – Dr. Habil. Agnieszka Zimmermann, Pharm.D., Assoc. Prof., and Vice-Rresident of the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians, Dr. Habil. Małgorzata Rusak. Among the gathered guests was also: the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, prof. Wojciech Kamysz, Deputy Deans of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr Habil. Danuta Siluk, Assoc. Prof. and Dr. Habil. Bartosz Wielgomas, Assoc. Prof., as well as Prof. Andrzej Szutowicz, provincial consultant for laboratory diagnostics. Vice-Rector for the Quality of Teaching
This year’s edition was won by Edyta Wesołowska for her work entitled Tracking the genetic Variable of the SARS-CoV-2 virus with methods used in routine molecular diagnostics performed at the Division of Laboratory Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Habil. Krzysztof Lewandowski.
The second place was awarded to Małgorzata Łabich, who with the work entitled Analysis of the immunophenotype of in vitro cultured human adipose tissue stem cells performed in the Division of Embryology under the supervision of Prof. Michał Pikuła also won the audience award.
Karolina Sokołowska took third place for her work entitled Verification of comparative genomic hybridization in prenatal tests performed at the Department of Biology and Medical Genetics under the supervision of Dr. Habil. Bartosz Wielgomas, Assoc. Prof..
Five works were submitted to the competition, which was assessed by a competition committee composed of the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Habil. Magdalena Prokopowicz, Assoc. Prof. (president), Head of medical analyst Dr. Habil. Agnieszka Ćwiklińska, representatives of academic teachers: dr hab. Barbara Lewko, prof. university, dr hab. Anna Hallmann and Dr. Barbara Seroczyńska, representative of the laboratory of laboratory diagnosticians, mgr Alicja Utracka, and 4th-year student of medical analyst Anna Topolewska.
