We are really happy with the position of our University in the latest THE ranking. We owe our international recognition to the high-quality publications created by our researchers and to continuous and consistent development of international cooperation – said Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science of the MUG. – It is worth noting that the ranking’s methodology is based on indicators which are standardised in terms of the institution’s employment rate. Thereby, it quite objectively shows the quality of research in regards to the number of people involved in research and teaching activities. It also clearly demonstrates the relation between the average number of citations and publications for a given discipline. This stands as a solid proof that our position among the best research universities in the country is not accidental, and results from the research activities’ development strategy which has been consistently implemented for several years.

Vice-Rector for Science Prof. Markuszewski also draws our attention to the fact that is the only one among the four most prestigious international academic rankings (ARWU, QS, US News and THE), in which the Medical University of Gdańsk was classified among the top 1000 world universities.

In addition – although, we should keep in a certain perspective – we have been ranked right next to the University of Warsaw with a just a slightly lower International Outlook indicator and a much better Citations indicator – added Professor Michał Markuszewski. – I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who have contributed to the high quality of research carried out at the MUG. It would not be possible without the involvement of all representatives of our University’s community.
