Scientists from the Department of Haematology & Transplantology of the MUG, led by the Head of the unit Prof. Jan Maciej Zaucha and Dr. Habil. Agnieszka Piekarska, were the organisers of the COST Eurograft cGVHD meeting, which took place on September 19-20, 2022 in the Prof. Kieturakis Auditorium at the University Clinical Centre (UCC) and online. The conference was dedicated to summarizing the COST Eurograft action on the promotion of research and treatment of chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), as well as supporting international cooperation between scientists and research centres. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Marcin Gruchała, Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk.

The event was divided into two parts. On the first day, specialists from across Europe focused on analyzing the course and effects of the action taken. The activities of the various working groups included in it were also summarized, including numerous publications in renowned medical journals. The day ended with a plenary session, during which lectures were delivered by invited experts. Prof. Daniel Wolff presented the NIH cGVHD Consensus research projects, while Prof. Matteo Doglio presented a lecture on the prospects of cell therapies in cGVHD. In addition, 3 lectures dealt with biomarkers in the disease in question. The speeches of specialists were summarized by the traditional discussion with the participation of the audience.
The second part of the conference was devoted to the development of conditions for further cooperation both within and outside the groups formed during the COST Eurograft action. Several initiatives that could potentially be implemented in the future were also proposed and discussed.
