Fahrenheit Universities will celebrate the start of a new academic year

9.09.2022

On 1st October, in the heart of Gdańsk, with the sound of carillons playing Gaudeamus Igitur, several local universities will celebrate the start of a new 2022/2023 academic year. This is a special event in the country, emphasising the role of the academic community in the life of the city.

The science-focused festivities initiated by the Fahrenheit Universities will be attended by the FarU Universities’ representatives along with the several other Gdańsk higher education institutions and local authorities. Dariusz Drelich, Voiviode of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, City Mayor Aleksandra Dulkiewicz and Wiesław Byczkowski, Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, will be present as well.

We warmly invite the entire academic community of our University – with their families and friends – to participate in the celebration. Let us show that Gdańsk is truly an academic city!

The festivities related to the start of the 2022/2023 academic year will commence at noon in the Gdańsk city centre when the celebratory march of Gdańsk universities, local government representatives and students will depart from the Golden Gate. They will accompanied by Daniel Fahrenheit himself along with musicians and acrobats. The parade will be crowned with the reading of the Gdańsk Declaration of Science, in both Polish and English, at the Main Town Hall.

The ‘Long live science!’ event will be unique on a national scale – declares Prof. Marcin Gruchała, the President of the Fahrenheit Union of Universities, Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk. – We wish to show that Gdańsk is a strong academic centre and the city of science. We want this day to be a joyful manifestation of the unity shared by the entire academic community. This is the reason why all the Gdańsk universities have been invited to participate.
