Professor David R. Goodlett (University of Victoria, Canada) will give an open lecture entitled Integrating Research on Lipid A as a Therapeutic and Diagnostic into a National Fee-for-Service Centre. The meeting is organised by Prof. Ryszard T. Smoleński and the Administration Department for the Excellence Initiative – Research University Program. Prof. Goodlett, a specialist in the field of mass spectrometry, during his career he has been active in various scientific areas, including medicine, oceanography, pharmacy, microbiology, proteomics, lipidomics and in research on the protein & glycolipid structure-function relationships, publishing a total of about 280 articles with Hirsch index 85. He is currently professor of biochemistry and microbiology at the University of Victoria in Canada (since 2020), where he is also the Director of the Proteomics Center and holds the Don and Eleanor Rix BC Leadership Chair in Biomedical and Environmental Proteomics. He was also a professor at the University of Meryland in Baltimore (2013-2020) and the University of Washington (2004-2012) and the first Director of Proteomics at the Institute for Systems Biology (2000-2003). In the years 2012-2016 he was a Finland Distinguished Professor. Prof. Goodlett is an Editor at “Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry”, and since 2007 also co-organizer of www.msbm.org. In 2018, he joined the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Science (ICCVS) as a Visiting Professor.
