International integration at the Main Library

Workshops How to be culturally inteligent and why worth trying?, hosted by Dr Habil. Natasza Kosakowska-Berezecka, Assoc. Prof. from the University of Gdańsk and Intercultural Integration Coffee with representatives of, inter alia, the Main Library, the MUG Museum and Internationalization Office were part of this year’s Week of Libraries’ celebration. Events organized on 11th of May at our University’s Library also fitted in the Year of Communication and Intercultural Integration of the Community of MUG and the Culture of Respect campaign.

During the communication workshops, participants talked and practised breaking down barriers and the ability to look at a given issue from the point of view of another person. As emphasized by Prof. Natasza Kosakowska-Berezecka, the willingness to meet a different culture and meet somewhere between the zones of two people is the best way to build cooperation.

The next part of the event was Intercultural Integration Coffee – games, competitions and integration over coffee and snacks. Many participants got to know the offer of the MUG Library and Museum on that day, and also took advantage of the opportunity to talk with members of student organizations of various cultures. Students from the Resource Team and South Asian Students Society prepared a show of traditional Indian dances and henna tattoos and presented local dishes, while librarians organized a Library Bingo and a crossword puzzle for the guests. MedHum and IFMSA-Poland Gdańsk Branch, also talked about their activities, and the members of Phi Delta Epsilon introduced the interested parties to the subject of numbers in various languages. There were also board games and sweet snacks.
