MUG ranked in the QS for the first time

Medical University of Gdańsk has been named as one of the world’s top universities, according to the latest edition of the world’s most-consulted university ranking and one of the four biggest international academic rankings – QS World University Rankings. MUG has been ranked 551-600 in the Medicine category in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 as 2nd among domestic scientific institutions. Harvard University was ranked 1st in terms of world institutions in this category, whereas the Jagiellonian University – Collegium Medicum took the lead in Poland.

– We are happy to be included in the group of universities classified by the QS World University Rankings in the Medicine category. This stands as a proof of continuously increasing level of research carried out by the MUG and further, higher research position and growing world recognition of our University – says Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science. – It can be assumed that this is the result of the consistent implementation of the development strategy of our University and another positive effect of the initiatives undertaken in previous years, which resulted, among others, in acknowledging the MUG as the only medical research university and the member of an elite group of the best 10 Polish universities awarded in the prestigious “Excellence Initiative – Research University competition”.

The University earned its highest scores for the Citations per Paper and H-Index indicators, thereby, confirming the its place among renowned academic centres, where leading publication are being created and frequently cited in prestigious journals. The MUG’s score in the ranking is in itself a part of the consistently implemented ranking policy, a crucial part of the MUG Strategy 2019-2025.
