The Student’s Scientific Circle of Neurosurgery is the organiser of the 2nd Surgical Student Conference of the GUMed Scientific Circles. The event will be held on 22-23 April 2022 at the MUG’s University Clinical Centre. The patron of the conference is the Rector of the MUG, Prof. Marcin Gruchała. The main topic of the event is Women in Surgery. The aim of the conference is to integrate the international community of students and to enable participants to present their first works and research projects in scientific environment.
In recent years, we have observed an increase in women’s interest in surgical specializations. Choosing this career path can be difficult. During this conference there will a panel discussion on the topic. Opening a discussion about this can change the approach of both women and men to the so-called “typical” male and female medical specializations.
The Excellence in Surgery conference is addressed to the students and Scientific Circles of the Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Gdańsk. The program covers a wide range of topics. During two days, participants will have the possibility to take part in lectures conducted by inspiring speakers and scientific sessions: case reports and own work. Workshops and lectures by experts from around the world have also been planned. Examples of planned workshops are: simulation of aortic valve replacement, a workshop in transplant surgery (delicate suturing of graft and vessels), laparoscopic surgical skills, ultrasound training, simulations of providing help to patients in life-threatening situations, a workshop on intubation and work under a neurosurgical operating microscope.
The conference will be free of charge for all students of the MUG. Detailed information and the rules of participation are available on the Surgical Conference of the GUMed Scientific Circles profile on Facebook.
