The MUG is a project’s partner since the beginning of its implementation in February 2020. The initiative aims to improve the circulatory and respiratory efficiency and the condition of the muscular corset in children. For this purpose, a program of corrective exercises has been developed, in the form, volume and intensity adapted to the health needs of the 21st century generation. They allow children to increase exercise of medium and moderate intensity and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases by increasing the body’s efficiency. Our University is represented in the project by Dr. Habil. Michał Brzeziński from the Department of Paediatrics, Gastroenterology, Allergology & Paediatric Nutrition. The project is carried out in primary schools throughout Gdańsk.

Our civilization problem is not faulty posture, but the fact that we are killed by cardiovascular diseases and neoplastic diseases. Of course, this isn’t happening in the 10, 14, or 20-year-old generation yet, but it’s starting to happen at the age of 40+. Doctors are able to heal better and better, but we are not preventing a reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease – said Dr. Habil. Michał Brzeziński during project’s inauguration. – In order to do this among children, one has to put, inter alia, on their quality of nutrition, as well as increase their physical activity. We want to show that the best form of corrective gymnastics is any form of exercise aimed at strengthening the muscles and the cardiovascular system.
