The COVID-19 pandemic has severely limited the availability of screening tests. Despite a quick return to normal work, the reporting rate is still low. Moreover, as a shameful examination, colonoscopy is often associated with the patient’s anxiety and raising the subject of taboos.

Our initiative was aimed at implementing prophylaxis and mobilizing patients to take actions related to their own health. Research shows that the pandemic limited access to medical advice, thus delaying diagnosis and treatment in patients. After a year of pandemic, we see bowel cancer patients often suffer from advanced disease – says Milena Lachowicz, Ph.D.More and more often we observe young people admitted to our center with advanced cancer. We are very concerned about this, which is why the preventive campaign was designed to mobilize patients and make them aware that prevention is better than cure. Our point was very popular, although we must admit that the society is afraid and reluctant to talk about oncological diseases and their prevention. There is still a lot of work to be done in this area.

This year’s edition of the event was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the MUG Prof. Marcin Gruchała and the institutional patronage of the University.
