Summary of the meeting of Teams V and IX of the PRA 3

Sixty-nine people took part in third meeting of the series n Vivo and In Vitro Research through the Eyes of Teams V and IX in PRA 3 – a Cycle of Meetings on Intra- and Intercollegiate Cooperation, which was held on 4th March 2022 r. using the Clickmeeting platform. The main topis was TAZD-CBU as the leader of in vivo research projects in Tri-City universities. The patronage of the event is provided by the Rector of the MUG Prof. Marcin Gruchała and the Fahrenheit Universities in Gdańsk.

Webinar was started and hosted by Natalia Literska, M.Eng. from the Bioanalytical Laboratory of the Department of Biochemistry of the MUG, the DIrector of the Tri-City University Animal House(TAZD) Grażyna Peszyńska-Sularz, V.M.D. invited representatives of units cooperating with the Animal House to deliver expert lectures. The webinar participants had the opportunity to listen to presentations on various types of research conducted on the basis of cooperation with this university-wide unit.

As the first, the lecture entitled In vivo research on the way to understanding pathogenesis and developing new therapeutic solutions for human diseases was presented by Prof. Dr. Habil. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska, Director of the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Science (ICCVS) of the University of Gdańsk from the Division of Family Medicine of the MUG. Then, a lecture on the research on epigenetic activation of regeneration and the obtained promising results was delivered by *Prof. Dr. Habil. Eng. Paweł Sachadyn, Head of the Laboratory for Regenerative Biotechnology at the Gdańsk University of Technology. Dr. Habil. Ewelina Król, UG’s Assoc. Prof., Dean of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG&MUG, from the Department of Recombinant Vaccines of the University of Gdańsk talked about recombinant virus-like particles as potential vaccine antigens.

The presentations were accompanied by numerous questions from the participants. The event was attended by scientists from the Medical University of Gdańsk, the University of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk University of Technology, as well as from other scientific units from all over Poland. The series of meetings will be continued in the coming months. The next meeting is scheduled for 25th March 2022, and information about the speakers and the topics of the lectures will be available soon.


The originators of the series of meetings were researchers from the teams V In vivo studies on mechanism of disease and therapy and IX Technological developments for bioanalysis and therapy including cell based, 3D and artificial engineered models, which are part of the Priority Research Area 3: Biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology created under the Excellence Initiative – Research University program at the Medical University of Gdańsk.
