Vice-Minister of Health visited the MUG

Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health Piotr Bromber has visited the Medical University of Gdańsk on 28th of January 2022. The visit was an opportunity to present individual and team awards of the Ministry of Health, which obtained: Prof. Jolanta Wierzba from the Division of Internal and Pediatric Nursing of the MUG in recognition of the overall achievements including significant achievements in the field of scientific, didactic, implementation and organizational activities and team from the Division of Cell Biology and Immunology composed of: Dr. Habil. Marcin Okrój, Assoc. Prof, Grzegorz Stasiłojć, Ph.D., Anna Felberg-Miętka, M.A. and Aleksandra Urban, M.A. for a significant achievements in the field of scientific activity and especially for the series of publications Strategia potęgowania immunoterapii poprzez zwiększenie ich zdolności do aktywacji kaskady dopełniacza w patogenezie niektórych chorób autoimmunizacyjnych (The strategy of enhancing immunotherapy by increasing their ability to activate the complement cascade in the pathogenesis of some autoimmune diseases). The talks were attended by: MUG Rector Prof. Marcin Gruchała, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs Prof. Edyta Szurowska, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Dr. Habil. Tomasz Smatacz, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Radosław Owczuk, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Przemysław Rutkowski and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Habil. Bartosz Wielgomas, Assoc. Prof, Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Development Katarzyna Grzejszczak, M.A. and the University’s Spokesman Joanna Śliwińska, Ph.D.

The visit was an opportunity to present the student community of the Package for the Young – activities undertaken by the ministry in response to the demands of medical university students. According to the assumptions, its aim is to encourage and persuade studying medicine, and while studying it, facilitate this path. As the Vice-Minister of Health emphasized, the package consists of seven elements, such as: loans for students, participation in decisions made, strengthening competences and skills, not only in the field of communication, but also coping with stress and responsibility, changing education standards, working for student, young educator and changes in postgraduate education.

This meeting today is a summary of the numerous meetings held with students and residents, also here at the Medical University of Gdańsk, to which we listened carefully. Thank you for participating in this discussion and open dialogue – said Vice-Minister Piotr Bromber.

In addition, he noted that some of the announced changes are organizational in nature and are already underway, while some are legislative changes, the effects of which should be waited until the end of February (change of the education standard) and mid-March (work for the student).

During the visit in Gdańsk, Vice-Minster Bromber visited also the seat of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG & MUG, where he met with the rector’s and dean’s authorities as well as leading scientists.
