5.11.2021

Representatives of the Medical University of Gdańsk in cooperation with the Polish Society for Health Programs (Polskie Towarzystwo Programów Zdrowotnych, PTPZ) prepared a publication Anti-smog resolutions of voivodeship self-governments as a tool to improve air quality (Uchwały antysmogowe samorządów wojewódzkich jako narzędzie poprawy jakości powietrza). The work’s authors from the MUG are: late Lubomira Wengler, Ph.D., specialist in the field of law and administrative proceedings, acting head of the Division of Medical and Pharmacy Law of the MUG and public health students: Paulina Chłopik (2nd year, 2nd grade) and Martyna Czerep (3rd year, 1st grade).

As part of public health, many important interventions are undertaken, including shaping the living conditions to improve the health of the inhabitants of Poland. Air quality, which is worsening rapidly, remains an important element. Despite the growing public awareness of ecology, it is still the cause of not only environmental pollution, but also the development of many diseases and premature deaths in humans. The publication summarizes the activities of provincial self-governments in the field of restrictions on heating houses and flats.

The publication is available in Polish language at the PTPZ’s website.
