Modular investments in the University Maritime and Tropical Medicine Centre

In the University Maritime and Tropical Medicine Centre construction and assembly works related to the implementation of activities to prevent and counteract COVID-19 are underway. As part of the investment, in the hospital of the Medical University of Gdańsk, clinical building No. 2 is being built in a modular system, which has a new reception room with three isolation rooms, registration, and swab collection room from persons suspected of coronavirus infection.

- The building consists of three floors, each has three isolated patient rooms with sanitary facilities and an entrance lock for each of our three Clinics – said Prof. Marcin Renke, director of the University Maritime and Tropical Medicine Centre in Gdynia. – The investment should be completed by 30 November 2021.

The total area of the building is 540 m², of which 180 m² is on the first floor and 120 m² on each floor. The entrance to the emergency room will be possible through a special sluice. On the ground floor level, a connector is planned to provide positive patients with direct communication between the emergency room and the elevator complex located in the existing building.

The total cost of the project is almost PLN 6 million, of which more than PLN 3 million comes from the Regional Operational Programme of Pomeranian 2014-2020, the remaining amount was covered by Medicine Centre’s funds. Additional funds were allocated by the Pomeranian Voivodeship Board to help hospitals in Pomerania involved in the fight against the SARS CoV-2 pandemic. They constitute an increase in the amount of funding for the project Geriatric Centre in Gdańsk implemented by the Medical University of Gdańsk. Climatic Sp. z o.o. is responsible for the implementation of the investment, including the execution of foundations, delivery and installation of modules, connection, and start-up of all installations.
