MUG's scientists decorated with the Order of Polonia Restituta

Five professors of the Medical University of Gdańsk and the University Clinical Centre have been awarded with the Knight’s Cross of Order of Polonia Restituta (Krzyż Kawalerski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski). The orders were handed by Andrzej Dera, Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of Poland. The event has been held on 30th of June 2021 in Pomeranian Voivodeship Office in Gdańsk. From the MUG Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science took part in the ceremony.

Awarded were:

  • Prof. Elżbieta Adamkiewicz-Drożyńska from the Division of Paediatrics, Haemathology & Oncology,
  • Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec, Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Diabetology and Endocrinology,
  • Prof. Małgorzata Sznitowska, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology,
  • Prof. Michał Woźniak, Head of the Department of Medical Chemistry,
  • Prof. Maria Wujtewicz, retired Head of the Division of Anaesthesiology & Intensive Care.

Order of Polonia Restituta is second highest Polish civil state order, which has been established in 1921. It is conferred by the President of the Republic of Poland for outstanding achievements in state and society service i.e. in the fields of education, science, sport, culture and art.
