Work perspectives for graduates of the Faculty of Health Sciences

Issues related to job offers for graduates of medical fields of studies were subjects of III Conference Our future in Employers’ hands – Graduates of medical fields of studies on the labour market (Nasza przyszłość w rękach Pracodawców – Absolwenci kierunków medycznych na rynku pracy) which was held on 26th of May 2021 on the ZOOM platform. Its organiser was the Student Scientific Circle of Management and Working Environment in Health Care and the Division of Nursing Management of the Faculty of Health Sciences with the Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine of the MUG.
The conference was attended by: Rector Prof. Marcin Gruchała, Prof. Przemysław Rutkowski – Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Aleksandra Gaworska-Krzemińska, Dr. Habil. – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Piotr Wąż – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Beata Wieczorek-Wójcik, Ph. D., Katarzyna Kretowicz, Ph.D. and Małgorzata Warska from the Division of Nursing Management, Jolanta Olszewska, Ph.D. from the Division of Obstetric and Gynaecological Nursing as well as Ewa Bandurska, Ph.D., Acting Head of the Center for Competence Development, Integrated Care and e-Health.
Organisers’ representative, Head of the Student Scientific Circle of Management and Working Environment in Health Care Kira Gryning (1st year, 2nd degree of Nursery) talked about changes in SSC and encouraged students of all fields of studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences to cooperate.
Students were able to learn about job offers from employers such as University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk, Copernicus – Podmiot Leczniczy Sp. z o.o. in Gdańsk, Szpitale Pomorskie Sp. z o.o., Szpital Specjalistyczny w Kościerzynie Sp. z o.o., Szpital Specjalistyczny w Prabutach Sp. z o.o., Centrum Zdrowia w Kartuzach Sp. z o.o., Urząd Miejski w Gdańsku – Wydział Rozwoju Społecznego. Employers presented information especially important for future graduates. Conversation concerned also the amount of vacancies in various departments and forms of employment. Moreover, the matters of salaries and accupational adaptation in new outpost have been discussed. Students could also listen about proposed systems of rising competences and professional development as well as abilities of connecting studies with work.
In the event programme there was also a lecture Help of the Professional Self-government given in connection with COVID-19 pandemic (Pomoc Samorządu Zawodowego udzielana w związku z pandemią COVID-19) presented by, Ewa Bogdańska-Bóll, Head of the Office of the Regional Chamber of Nurses and Midwives in Gdańśk. The last part of meeting was devoted to insurances for medical professionals. It was presented by Dorota Martowicz, Head of the Department of Insurances Company INTER Polska S.A.
In past years the event has been focused on the situation of nurses and midwives. This year for the first time the meeting was targeted to all students of the Faculty of Health Sciences with the Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine. Its goal was to present to future graduates job offers and conditions of employment in chosen healthcare institutions in Pomeranian Voivodeship.
