More than 100 people, including members of the Faculty Board, Discipline Board, research and teaching staff, and non-academic staff attended the 15th- anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Health Sciences with the Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine at the MUG on May 12, 2021. Due to the epidemic situation, the meeting was conducted online. The event was attended by Prof. Jacek Bigda – Vice-Rector for Development and Education, Prof. Michał Markuszewski – Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Edyta Szurowska – Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs, Prof. Radosław Owczuk – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Wojciech Kamysz – Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Habil. Ewelina Król, University of Gdańsk Professor – Dean of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG & MUG. The guests were welcomed by the host of the meeting – Prof. Przemyslaw Rutkowski, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, who sent words of gratitude to all the employees for their work for the development of the Faculty.
The event was also honored with the presence of deans and vice-deans of the faculties of health sciences from Poland, including Dr. Habil. Karolina Skonieczna-Żydecka, from the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, Dr. Habil. Sebastian Grosicki, Professor of the Medical University of Silesia, Dr. Habil. Joanna Głogowska-Ligus from the Medical University of Silesia in Bytom, Barbara Juśkiewicz-Sawczyna, Ph.D., from the University of Olsztyn. Congratulations on the occasion of the jubilee were sent to Dean Prof. Przemysław Rutkowski by Dr. Habil. Mariusz Wysokiński, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Medical University of Lublin.
The founder of the Faculty, then Dean and now Deputy Dean for Science and Staff Development, and Chairman of the Health Sciences Board Professor Piotr Lass in his colorful speech recalled the first moments of activity of the new unit. The next speakers were the Vice-Rectors: Prof. Edyta Szurowska and Prof. Jacek Bigda, who emphasized the importance of the Faculty of Health Sciences for the University and the dynamic scientific development of the unit and its staff.
The culmination of the event were special words of gratitude from the Rector of the MUG Prof. Marcin Gruchała, and Dean, Prof. Przemysław Rutkowski, addressed to persons who have exceptionally contributed to the development and position of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Medical University of Gdańsk. The ceremony ended with the joint listening of Gaude Mater Polonia.
