Young dermatologists' success

Eleven students and doctoral students successfully took part in VII Ogólnopolska i Międzynarodowa Konferencja Naukowa Interdyscyplinarne aspekty chorób skóry i błon śluzowych (VII National and International Scientific Conference Interdisciplinary aspects of skin and mucous membranes diseases) and 3rd Oncological Student Scientific Conference. In the events taking place on 5th and 6th March 2021 took part members of Dermatologiczne Studenckie Koło Naukowe (Dermatologic Student Scientific Circle) which supervisor is Assoc. Prof. Magdalena Trzeciak, Ph.D. and members of Studenckie Koło Naukowe Practical and Experimental Dermatology (Student Scientific Circle Practical and Experimental Dermatology), which supervisor is Professor Wioletta Barańska-Rybak.

Speeches given by representatives of the University at VII Ogólnopolska i Międzynarodowa Konferencja Naukowa won highest places in clinical cases and original research results sessions.

The following prizes were awarded in the clinical cases in Polish:

  • Miłosz Lewandowski – 1st place and honourable mention of supervisors of SKN Dermatologiczne: Joanna Czuwara M.D., Dr. Habil. and. Magdalena Misiak-Gałązka M.D. Ph.D. for thesis Squamous Cell Carcinoma as a complication of long-term hydroxyurea treatment in patient suffering from polycythemia vera (supervisor Professor Wioletta Barańska-Rybak, SKN Practical and Experimental Dermatology),
  • Karol Kołkowski – 2nd place for thesis Mycosis fungoides progressing to CD8 (+) Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma and accompanied by paraneoplastic pemphigus (opiekun Prof., Dr. Habil. Małgorzata Sokołowska-Wojdyło, SKN Practical and Experimental Dermatology, Dermatologiczne Studenckie Koło Naukowe),
  • Mikołaj Cichoń – 3rd place for thesis Allergic contact dermatitis elicited by diabetes medical devices – a case report (supervisor Magdalena Trzeciak M.D., Dr. Habil., Dermatologiczne Studenckie Koło Naukowe),

The following prizes were awarded in the clinical cases in English:

  • Maria Dobosz – 3rd place for thesis When dermatology meets psychiatry. A case report of dermatitis artefacta (supervisor Professor Wioletta Barańska-Rybak, SKN Practical and Experimental Dermatology),

In English language original research results session were awarded:

  • Marcela Nowak – 2nd place for thesis Assessment of effectiveness of the full-thickness skin micrograft, using a skin punch method, for accelerating the granulation of the wound bed (supervisor Professor Wioletta Barańska-Rybak, SKN Practical and Experimental Dermatology),
  • Stanisław Półjanowski – 3rd place for thesis Reasons of non-compliance in patients with atopic dermatitis treated with topical calcineurin inhibitors (supervisor Assoc. Prof. Magdalena Trzeciak, Ph.D., Dermatologiczne Studenckie Koło Naukowe).

Active participants of VII Ogólnopolska i Międzynarodowa Konferencja Naukowa Interdyscyplinarne aspekty chorób skóry i błon śluzowych were: Marcela Nowak (student of First Doctoral School), Maria Dobosz (4th year medicine student), Natalia Brzezińska (4th year medicine student), Ewa Maria Sokolewicz (5th year medicine student), Monika Leończyk (6th year medicine student), Karol Kołkowski (4th year medicine student), Miłosz Lewandowski (5th year medicine student), Mikołaj Cichoń (6th year medicine student) and Stanisław Półjanowski (6th year medicine student).

In 3rd Oncological Student Scientific Conference took part: Urszula Kobus (5th year medicine student) and Julia Nizgorska (6th year medicine student), whose supervisor was Michał Sobjanek M.D. Dr. Habil..

During contest sessions over 30-member jury constituted scientist from the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology of the MUG: Professor Wioletta Barańska-Rybak, Professor. Małgorzata Sokołowska-Wojdyło and Dr. Habil. Michał Sobjanek.
