We got to know the results of the List of Hundred 2020 (Lista Stu) plebiscite prepared by the editors of Puls Medycyny. The winners of the nineteenth edition are 10 representatives of our community.
- Once again, a group of scientists from the Medical University of Gdańsk has been recognized in the ranking of the most influential people in Polish medicine and health care. It is important that the activities of our experts in various fields have been positively noticed, especially during the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic – says Prof. Edyta Szurowska, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs of the MUG.
The high 4th position among people who had the greatest positive impact on the development of Polish medicine was taken by Prof. Jacek Jassem, head of the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy of the MUG, president of the board of the Polish League for Fighting Cancer Foundation. Prof. Marcin Gruchała, rector of our University, head of the 1st Department of Cardiology of the MUG, chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities in the 2020-2024 term was classified on 35th place. Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz, head of the Department of Hypertension and Diabetology of the MUG, editor-in-chief of the quarterly Diseases of the Heart and Vessels (Choroby Serca i Naczyń) was classified on 40th place, and 45th was taken by Prof. Bartosz Karaszewski, head of the Department of Neurology at the MUG and head of the Department of Adult Neurology with the UCC (UCK) Stroke Center. Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec, head of the Department of Paediatrics, Diabetology and Endocrinology of the MUG, provincial consultant in the field of pediatric endocrinology and diabetology, member of the Main Board of the Polish Diabetes Society was ranked 49th. Prof. Tomasz Zdrojewski, head of the Department of Prevention and Didactics of the Medical University of Gdańsk, member of the presidium of the Public Health Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, head of the research team of the PolSenior 2 project (examining the health of older Poles), chairman of the Prevention and Epidemiology Section of the Polish Cardiac Society was classified on 52nd place. 83th place was taken by Prof. Miłosz Jaguszewski from the 1st Department of Cardiology, chairman of the scientific council of the Science is People project popularizing science at the MUG, originator and coordinator of the Young Scientist Program, author of the Specialized Research Fellowship for young cardiologists awarded by the Polish Society of Cardiology, editor-in-chief Cardiology Journal, chairman of the 30 Club of the Polish Cardiac Society.
In the Healthcare System category, Prof. Piotr Czauderna, from the Department of Surgery and Urology for Children and Adolescents of the MUG was ranked 32nd. Jakub Kraszewski, the director of the University Clinical Center (UCK) was ranked 55th, while Prof. Jarosław Sławek, head of the Division of Neurological and Psychiatric Nursing of the MUG was classified on 96th place.
Candidates were assessed by the competition jury in three categories: accomplishments and achievements in 2020, professional reputation and environmental impact, and the strength of public influence. The full list of winners is available on the website.
