APPEAL OF RECTOR OF THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF GDAŃSK CONCERNING COVID-19 VACCINE

The ongoing pandemic has had a significant impact on our professional, private and social lives. For months we have been learning to live anew, adapting to the applicable restrictions and recommendations, aimed at caring for health and safety of all of us. A chance to improve the situation and defeat the SARS-CoV-2 virus are the vaccinations that have been taking place since the end of 2020.

I strongly encourage the entire community of the Medical University of Gdańsk to use this opportunity that modern medicine has created for us and to vaccinate against COVID-19. The available results of clinical research confirm the efficacy and safety of the vaccines authorized and available in our country. In view of the current, difficult epidemic situation vaccinations are the only rational choice, thanks to which we will not only be able to recover faster from the pandemic, but also reduce the social and economic crisis that is affecting us.

Let us remember that the medical nature of the university gives it a unique role in society, resulting from care for the protection of human life and health. Responsible and thoughtful behawior based on reliable knowledge and credible scientific proofs lies on all people engaged in creating of healthcare system, especially on these who build the academic community of medical university.
