Agnieszka Piekarska M.D., Ph.D. from the Department of Haematology & Transplantology of the MUG has published an article Immune status against hepatitis B in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation – factors affecting early and long-lasting maintenance of protective anti-HBs titers in a journal Frontiers in Immunology. It’s one of leading journals in the field of immunology (IF 5.085).
Alongside Agnieszka Piekarska M.D., Ph.D. co-authors of article are: Piotr Wiśniewski, M.D., Ph.D. from the Department of Endocrinology and Internal Diseases of the MUG, Krzysztof Lewandowski M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc. from the Department of Laboratory Medicine of the MUG, prof. Lidia Gil MD., Ph.D., D.Sc. from the Poznań University of Medical Sciences, prof. Piotr Trzonkowski M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., Head of the Department of Medical Immunology of the MUG, Maria Bieniaszewska M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc. from the Department of Haematology & Transplantology of the MUG and prof. Jan Maciej Zaucha M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., Head of the Department of Haematology & Transplantology of the MUG.
In the article authors have presented immunological aspects affecting the response to vaccination and its maintenance in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation and have demonstrated the influence of adoptive transfer of immunity transmitted by donor. There was also proposed an individualised scheme of active immunization after transplantation which is adapted to the severity of serological response and presence of graft-versus-host disease.
