Scientist from the MUG among WHO experts at the conference against disinformation

the 3rd Global Infodemic Management Conference

International video-meeting organized by WHO was held on December 9 2020, under the slogan Civil society meeting on misinformation releated on NCDs and risk factors. On behalf of our University, Przemysław Waszak Ph.D. from the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the MUG was invited to take part in the conference.

Among the topics raised during the event were battle against fake news, disinformation and conspiracy theories in medicine. Especially in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination, this issue is very important. During the meeting, three main problems and proposed solutions were formulated. Experts recommendations can be found on the WHO website.

Before the pandemic, Przemysław Waszak Ph.D. dealt with the topic of fake news in social media in his research The spread of medical fake news in social media – The pilot quantitative study, published in Health Policy and Technology Journal. The publication is available on the journal’s website.
