Our University’s sixth year student of Faculty of Medicine – English Division Shan Ali has received an honorary award Dr Wacław Mayzel Medical Laurel (Laur Medyczny im. Doktora Wacława Mayzla). In that way the V. Faculty od Medical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Polska Akademia Nauk) has appreciated his cycle of 17 publications about the neurosurgery.

- I’m humbled to receive this recognition. I’d like to thank my mentor Tomasz Szmuda PhD from the Department of Neurosurgery of the MUG who has taught me how to conduct research, publish and persevere – says Shan Ali. – Thanks to him i’m involved in activity of Scientific Circle of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the MUG. In 1 year our circle has published more than 10 papers in prestigious peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Wacław Mayzel Medical Laurel Award has been given since 1999 year for highly rated research publication written by students before graduation. This research paper has to be published in scientific journal while working on it must not be connected with formal requirements of studies. Young researcher can be awarded in such way at the rector’s request and the rector can only submit one request per year.
