New Chairmen of the Scientific Discipline Councils

In September this year elections for chairmen and deputies for the Scientific Discipline Council were held at the MUG.
The chairman of the Medical Sciences Council was elected prof. Maria Alicja Dębska-Ślizień, M.D., Ph.D., head of the Department and Clinic of Nephrology, Transplantology and Internal Diseases. The duties of the first deputy chairman will be performed by prof. Janusz Moryś, Ph.D., head of the Department of Anatomy, while the second deputy is the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, prof. dr hab. Radosław Owczuk M.D., Ph.D.
The chairman of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Council was elected prof. Wiesław Sawicki, Pharm.D., head of the Department of Physical Chemistry. The first deputy chairman is prof. Jarosław Sławiński, Pharm.D., head of the Department of Organic Chemistry, while the second deputy is the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy-prof. Wojciech Kamysz, Pharm.D.
The functions of the chairman of the Health Sciences Council will be performed by prof. Piotr Lass, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Science and Staff Development at the Faculty of Health Sciences with the Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine, head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiology Informatics. The function of the first deputy will be performer by prof. Katarzyna Zorena, M.D., Ph.D., head of the Department of Immunobiology and Environmental Microbiology. The second deputy is the statutory dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences with the IMMiT, prof. dr hab. Przemysław Rutkowski M.D., Ph.D.
The Scientific Discipline Council is a collegiate body of the MUG. According to the Statute, its tasks include conducting proceedings to award academic degrees in a given discipline, administering these degrees in an administrative manner and appointing committees to perform activities in the procedure for awarding a doctoral degree. The number of Scientific Discipline Councils corresponds to the number of disciplines for which the University is authorized to award academic degrees.
