Once again the Medical University of Gdansk has been acknowledged in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). This is the oldest global university ranking, also called the Shanghai Ranking. The university is placed in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020 (place 301-400) in the category of medical sciences in the field of clinical medicine.
Academic Ranking of World Universities is one of the three most-valued university rankings in the world (next to QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Ranking). It is prepared by the Institute of Higher Education at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. The creators of the ranking take into consideration, among others: international scientific successes, the number of employees who have received a prestigious award (e.g. Nobel Prize or Fields Medal) and the number of publications in prestigious scientific journals.
