Ewelina Król Ph.D. from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, received funding from the National Science Centre (NCN) for the project entitled The path to a safe vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus – modifications of the “Spike” structural protein leading to the elimination of the ADE effect , under the Fast Access Path to Funds for Covid-19 Research. The objective of the competition was to select projects that will help in diagnostic activities, understanding the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and mitigating the effects of a pandemic. Scientists had two weeks to submit their applications. Project evaluation took a month. Due to the high interest in the competition, NCN decided to increase the budget. Financing for a total amount of over PLN 12 million was awarded to 19 projects.
